Chick-fil-A Presents The High School Team of The Week!

Myrtle Beach had to break a streak to preserve one of its own. The Seahawks’ varsity football team withstood a strong second half charge from visiting Socastee to win 23-22 last Friday.

The victory boosted the Seahawks winning streak to 11 games, dating back to last season. It also ended Socastee’s incredible 25-game regular season winning streak that began in October of 2011.

Myrtle Beach led 16-0 at halftime and showed grit holding off a late charge from Socastee. The Seahawks scored with nine minutes remaining, thanks to a 43-yard strike from Drayton Arnold to Kyle Belack.

Other Seahawk standouts included Kelton Greene and Keyonte Sessions. Greene returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown, while Sessions took a punt 92 yards for a score.

Kicker Sean Huggins also proved clutch. In a game separated by one point, Huggins scored five. He nailed a 30-yard field goal and two extra points.

Myrtle Beach’s 2014 campaign continues this Friday with a visit to 2-2 Carolina Forest.
